So Unity has an asset store where you can poke around looking for free or paid assets. Sometimes its beneficial because it cuts down on the workload for a developer. Other times when you want something specific, it'll either be expensive or won't be exactly what you need. So that means I need to learn how to model some of this stuff on my own. I'm not an artist so I'm a little concerned anything I make will look funny. Anyway, that shouldn't be too much of a deterrent for this project. Worst case scenario, I may need to eventually get help to build assets if it gets too difficult.
So I went looking for an open source modeling software and landed on Blender. I know there's others that would work just as fine, maybe even better. Sometimes you gotta go with your gut. I can always switch programs if it doesn't work out. Anyway, after a few more YouTube videos, I learned how to make a samurai sword. Normally, we don't use swords in aikido but there are some schools that put swords as decorations at the front of the dojo.
