This mod has 3 main functions.
1. Remove all fake mutant sounds from the ambiance
2. Repurpose those effects to real distant mutant effects to increase situational awareness and immersion
3. Replace all environmental sounds for a richer soundscape

Added Dead Zone option back into the mod. Removes all bird noises and most insect sounds except some at night.
Overall, the background noise during calm weather, day and night, is quieter. Lets you hear the now quieter distant mutant sounds easier, and makes gunfire more stark in comparison.
Added New Presets for nearly every level instead of generic ones. Every area has its own character and sounds.
As you go further north, less and less wild-life (insects and birds) will be audible. the NPP and Generators are cold, dead places.
Only Red Forest and Darkscape have as much ambient bird sounds as before.
Bird sounds usually only play in the morning now, sometimes in evening depending on area.
Removed wind sounds from calm weather types until I rework and edit them to be less finicky.
Added about 8 new background loops into the pool to be used for different weather types.
Rain and Storm now have background wind sounds depending on the area. If the are is entirely outdoors, the wind is louder.
Urban areas have their own unique storm and rain wind sounds. Wild Territory and Limansk have heavier winds than others because they have very little interiors.
The Bar has less wind because there's no way for me to currently disable wind when underground in the bar it self.
Cat attack sounds are a bit quieter.
Zaton's soundscape is now much more dead compared to the Great Swamp.
Fog brings its own advantages now. When its foggy, there is less background noise and wind. Making it easier to hear something in the distance or worse, something stalking you. The trade-off is worse visibility.
Before a storm rolls in, wind will be higher and you can hear distant thunder if you listen closely, and all animals will be seeking shelter as well.

Anyone getting this error (on console / log) :

Happened when I was at RedForest, narrow down to this addon. Seems like somekind of coding mistake in one of your file? Whenever this error occur pretty much had to reload because many game function stop functioning properly, eg: dismantle, follower inventory.
Something similar, except its happened in both Zaton and Outskirts. As far as I noticed, you can't swipe your gas mask anymore which isnt much of a issue aslong as it isn't raining, but when it comes to level transition, you cant. It will simply not transition at all, the black screen shows up but it vanishes soon after. Restarting the game is a temp fix at best, im not sure what triggers this issue as well.
Oh yeah, and sometimes your gun will play its reload sound but no reload is visible.
I am also experiencing the same problems with functions not working properly since installing this addon, I'm about to try a new game to see if its not save game compatible.
Edit: Makes no difference if you start a new game, functions like finding locations notification stop working. Its a real shame that it causes these problems as the new sounds are excellent, fingers crossed for a fix.

This is fantastic work, thank you. However there is noticeable static when this mod is activated, it's not too bad with Anomaly music but when you notice it you can't "unhear" it.

Yepp, having the problems as well with inability to swipe the gasmask and level transition (have to walk forward after the black screen pops up in order to actually go to the next level) after installing this. No idea why since this is only a sound mod, but will be rolling back until it's fixed.

Issues seem to be solved, note that I also had two other problems, which weren't mentioned here:
1. recurring quest descriptions were reverted to the "old" one: e.g. no clue was given who and where to kill before accepting the task
2. disassembling didn't not work: the item disappeared, but no parts were retrieved
The hotfix fixes a ton of random weird issues all caused by a typo. It should resolve any issues like this that are unrelated to the sound mod. Let me know if you have any more issues!

Why does this mod change so many mob behaviours? It's not just sounds, but like, changes to spotting mechanics and **** like that.

It changes the path to different sounds, also some of the distant sounds were disabled completely in their configs
Forest_1 has very horrid high pitch frequency throughout its entirety. It's very annoying to listen to.
That sound was a placeholder, and I forgot to switch it out on the release version. It'll be fixed in the next patch

Also, I have to say that the ambient environment sound, loop or whatever it's called, seems to be way too quiet now. Is it just me? Hearing the background ambience really helped make the environments feel vibrant and interesting, but now I feel like the breathing/footsteps and everything else are way too loud compared to the background ambience.
I noticed a "m_stalker - Copy.ltx" in the configs/creatures/ folder too, is that mislabelled?
No it's included on accident. You can delete it and it will be gone in the next version
I made the environment quieter so you can more easily hear distant mutants since the sounds can be subtle sometimes. I personally use voiced actor - ru so the breathing noises are much quieter so its balanced around that.
Is there a parameter that I can tweak to increase the ambient sound volume? Or did you reduce the decibels in the audio files directly?
You can use a program called SAVandT to adjust the volume from (0 - 2.0) It edited the comments of the .ogg file so tell the game how loud the sound should be in game.
as I can see the mod is updated to v1.1, do I still need the hotfix for v1???
