I have the random issue of crashing to desktop with no dump file during single player games. My graphics are all the highest that can be choosen, so I will decrease them to start off, but is there any other thing I might have overlooked to cause these crashes? They aren't consistent with amount of game time, just usually freeze and crash on trying to open one of the game sub menus.
If your game crashes when trying open up another UI (tech tree, diplomacy, main menu, etc) its running out of memory (3.6GB limit)
Turn off shadows, or turn down planet graphics by one bar
Make sure remastered shaders is turned on in settings, and everything else is set to max
Try not to run out of memory via other apps in the background (chrome, firefox, etc), if you have 8GB only then you may need to lower settings more
I'm a bit confused. I have had 2 Ventures from the start, but I cannot order them to mine anything. The only command they have is to build structures. I checked the mines and found that I can spawn Ventures there after research, so I did. Now, the new Ventures can mine, but the initial 2 still cannot. I'm not even sure if I can construct anything like these initial Ventures with the builder role, not a miner.
Anyway, great mod, it just takes some time to get the hang of it :D
Just like vanilla, the first two spawned ships are constructors
I get the confusion though, in SoNER 2 the constructors will be haulers instead of mining ships
I should start off with saying i find this mod to be amazing. I've been enjoying it a lot, playing with friends and a lot on my own. It brings a completely different feel and way of playing from vanilla sins that i quite appreciate.
If i were to criticize something about the mod, it would be late game progression. A pervasive issue i see with both subcaps and capitals, is that regardless of monetary income (which will always be obscene late game due to mining barges and being in a map that lets you have more than like 2 planets), all ships and capital shipts cost 1 supply/crew.
The problem with this is that late game meta becomes just spam the most powerful ships to win. For subcaptials, why would you use your slots for anything other than jovian ships if you got the money? For capitals all you need to do is spam titans to win. Most other fleet comps lose their relevancy once it just turns into a strongest ship steamroll. (While i know this is accurate to what it's actually like in EVE, it doesn't make for the most stimulating gameplay.) Especially with titans, they can take a long time to kill so it can end up quite the snoozefest of ships that can't even warp away due to permanent mutual scramble and are doomed to the death spiral spitting on eachother until someone comes out on top.
An easy solution for this would just be to make stronger ships cost more slots. Make the jovian ships use 5-10 supply for example. Supercarriers use 3 crews maybe, titans 5 or more crews (whatever values seem balanced). This would make you be more wise with your investments and inclined to compose your fleets better. This would also cause the ai to have less of these total instead of just popping everything out of capital yard on cooldown with no drawbacks. Make the ai have longer cooldown on titan summon to offset this. If not a main feature of the game, it would be cool to have a mini-mod for this - i've also considered trying to make it myself.
I never played Sins of a Solar Rebellion, is there a tutorial or something that will guide a new player in this mod or I should get experienced in the base game before thinking of installing New Eden Rebirth?
Playing the base game for a bit is recommended
There's no way to make a tutorial unfortunately, build mining barges, take your time understanding the tech tree, spam destroyers
Love the appearance and sound of the mod at very beginning steps, but opening research tree crashes game every time. Have to ctl-alt-del to get out.
edit - reinstalling, perhaps user error (usually is).
edit 2 - yep. user error. Now getting on Discord because I don't even know how to do the basics in this mod. Looks amazing! Wonderful job by you guys.
This might be a dumb question but do I need SoaSE:Rebellion or Trinity?

Yep, dumb question. Thanks! I was hella high when I posted this.
