Sim Theme Park (also known as Theme Park World) is the sequel to Theme Park and the second game in the series. It is a theme park management game where players build their own theme park with roller coasters, rides and food stalls. Each building can be customized for its appearance, prices and also the length of the ride. Roller coasters play an important role as the main attraction for visitors. Players can design a custom ride and then test it from a first-person view.

In this version the park can be built in four different worlds: Lost Kingdom (prehistoric theme), Halloween World (spooky theme), Wonderland (fantasy theme) and Space Zone (futuristic theme). The game boasts 3D graphics and players can walk around in their park as if they were one of the guests, and go on the rides. Golden Tickets can be won by doing great things to the park and these can be used to buy new rides and parks.

Something that not a lot of people know is that Sim Theme Park/Theme Park World on PC at launch was basically a pseudo mmorpg. It featured an extensive online system where players could earn currency in-game building parks to spend on downloading new parks from other players. As well as new rides from the developers. You could even do things like rate parks and follow individual creators, and apparently meet other players in-game while exploring the park in first person. This is why the game strangely doesn't have a progression system outside of just unlocking the 4 park themes as they expected you to participate in this system. This is also why the PS1 and later PS2 port have a full progression system but the PC version does not, as they didn't have access to this system.

This system was shut down years ago and was poorly documented outside of the waybackmachine and forum posts discussing it. The additional rides you were able to unlock via the online system were later included in the Gold edition's second disk.

There have been attempts to resurrect its online service but none have been finished it seems. I can find a single post discussing one that existed in the early 2000s, and another where a guy attempted to build one recently but it hasn't been updated for a few years. I really hope someone reverse engineers this game's online server as it feels empty without it.
