I really wish there was a retail box version of this game without steam as a requirement, my internet availability is already quite poor, I'm so tired of just about every game forcing steam.

The only game I can look forward to now is The Witcher 3 which thank god wont be using DRM/Steam in it's retail box version, only when bought from steam it requires it.

I agree. Steam really holds a monopoly on PC gaming, for the worst in my opinion. DRM is bad, no matter how people are trying to justify it. I got the GOG.com version of the game, but as a preservationist I also want a extra (sealed) retail version, containing the FULL, directly accessible game. People may remember the days when an internet connection wasn't even required. You just bought the game from a shop, installed it and played it. It's absolutely outrageous that you cannot even get retail packages without online requirements. People like us need to raise their voice because the mindless crowd doesn't seem to bother.

An update on my review, since I wrote it after going through like 2 levels. The game actually has a legitimately good story and it is interesting. Now I will not spoil anything.
But if you play for the first time, do not skip the cutscenes. If you do not, you might as well skip them since you know the story. This is not any other modern game that keeps your hands tied every time you start a new game.
And the cutscenes are drawn beautifully. I really loved the art style and the narration.
And yeah I know I missed a lot in the review... This game offers a lot!

Ah this is so refreshing!
Destructoid.com
Metacritic.com

an average of 74 metacritic, and 8/10 user score. I'm so glad to see a oldschool shooter not only be fun and innovative, but also do well critically. It like Painkiller.. its like what DNF should have been. Take some good ideas from the previous title and expand upon it, while at the same time giving us new features and a fresh take on characters/humor. And of course, be made in the spirit of fun rather than taking forcing realism on us.
