A fix for Modders Edition's 5 Minute Crash bug, including a guide.
Carnivores Modders Edition currently has a bug where the game crashes after playing for about 5 minutes.
After some trial and error, we've discovered that the files included in this fix solve the crashing issue.
This fix includes 3 files:
- New CARN2 application
- Renamed v_3dfx2.ren
- The original Carnivores 2 MENUAMB
It also includes a guide to help you figure out where to place these files, along with a second guide to help out with some other common bugs you may encounter.
UPDATE: Added more information to the guide, including how to avoid a gamebreaking bug on older versions.
Very good, ben stuggling with this issue since it came out, just a little thing. Think you could also add the iceage menu music? Its a bit wierd hearing birds when you open ice age.
For whatever reason menu music can't be more than a 12 second loop on Modders Edition or the 5 minute crash happens. Ice Age's theme is too long. That being said I haven't tried it myself, so feel free to give it a shot and see what happens.
Tried it, now the menu doesn't have any music, even if I put it back to the one you provided its dead silent.
I hope this bug does get fixed officially, it's sooo annoying when it crashes back to the menu. >.<
Doesn't work, it gives an (error opening file HUNTDAT\SOUNDFX\blip.wav) checked on Windows 10 Pro x64 Intel Core i5-3330 CPU @ 3.00GHz 3.00 GHz with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER and DirectX 12 Even run with dgVoodoo results in failure
I believe if you make a random .wav file and rename it to blip.wav, then put it into the SOUNDFX files, it will work. Or you can steal a blip.wav file from a newer ME mod that includes it.
I tried doing this (had this error with jurrasic park hunter legends so i took the blip file from legacy and put it in the sound FX folder in huntdat) and instead of giving me an error message it goes to black like its trying to boot up the game but goes back to menu after like 4 seconds
My problem is the HUNTDAT/MENU sl_bar.tga
