E1M1 is good, but on two occasions, I have spotted Spectres that were struggling to go anywhere due to being at the top of a flight of stairs. Not sure if it is intentional, but it looks kind of silly, as they have no way of attacking the player unless the latter tries to take them on at point-blank range.
