Initially developed and released by Gearbox Software in 2001, second Half-Life add-on, Half-Life: Blue Shift is a return to the Black Mesa Research Facility and another look at the Incident's consequences from the eyes of Gordon Freeman's best friend - Barney Calhoun.
In 2012, Crowbar Collective has delighted Half-Life fans with release of the magnificent Half-Life remake, but there are still no released remakes for add-ons. This is when we are coming in - HECU Collective are developing the Black Mesa: Blue Shift - a free remake with use of Black Mesa resources and style. We will try to stay as close to the original Blue Shift and Black Mesa as possible. Our mod will be releasing partially, chapter by chapter, so those who are not patient for the full release will finally have something to play!
For those who missed it, in our previous post, we shared two new screenshots featuring thrilling new locations. And for those who have already enjoyed them to the fullest, let's move forward.
For the first time in a while, we've decided to not just showcase screenshots, but treat you some gameplay footage, revealing the richness and unique visual style of the Blue Shift's fifth chapter remake!
As you can tell from the title, our team participated in an interview with LambdaGeneration, where we delved into many technical aspects of development, shared exclusive development screenshots, answered your questions, and unveiled a secret about one of the new monsters you'll encounter in our version of Focal Point!
We posted a new .gif showcasing one of the chapter's caves on the Patreon page too, go take a look!
There's still a lot more stuff to show off, but we're saving it for future. Keep an eye on the news!
You can join and chat with us on Discord, VK and support us on Patreon where we post some exclusive content!

I always liked the Half Life Opposing Force more than Blue Shift. But I also enjoyed playing this mod. Looking forward to the next chapter.
просто супер
I want to like this mod and all the hard work you guys are putting in *so* much, but dear lord it's crash-happy in its current state. Shortly after being given the crowbar in Chapter 3 (Duty Calls), the game simply shuts itself off, no input required. I tried restarting the game then loading a save, only for it to crash to desktop again. Then I started a new game from Chapter 3, and sure enough, it crashed at the same point. Now it crashes to desktop as soon as I hit "Load Game" or "New Game" from the main menu. Can't even start a new game. Anyone else experiencing a similar problem?
EDIT: lol who's the chucklefuck who downvoted this? I think "game crashes to desktop with no way to continue" is a reasonable issue to bring up, free or otherwise.
