Brilliantly made game with great maps and an interesting story. I was never bored at any point in this game nor did I ever find myself confused or stuck.
I will say however, it seems to be prone to random crashing. Of course that could just be me.
i loved :3
While this mod's look, feels, and also atmosphere are pretty good pretty much all the way through (until Combine Base Finale), I will have to heavily criticise it for it's insanely BS and punishing difficulty.
Usually, you're given less than 40 armor, against usually 5+ Combine soldiers, either assisted by Hunters or Boss Enemies. Not only that, but lack of ammo for high tier weapons like Magnum, Crossbow, or stuff to throw with G-Gun, makes these encounters very annoying. You're basically forced to play like a wuss, to not lose all your HP and barely any Armor.
Lack of HEV and HP chargers is also odd, even in Combine base they are nowhere to be seen.
That being said though, I'd still recommend it, as a relatively short, and neat experience, but, play it on Normal for your own sake. I beaten mods where you get 0 Armor, and that **** was less painful.
This mod is better than Half-Life: Xen's Horror (aka Half-Life: Dumpsterfire Horror)
This game is amazing ! Good work !
The GOAT!
Fun game! Love the style, although the maps need more variety. It is mostly just dark castles.
Perfect for testing and everything else. ;-)
That vorts killed me after i picked up mp7, and i've used easy difficulty
Very good!
A very solid 8/10 for this one! Beautiful and diverse maps, an emotional storyline, and intricate effects outweigh the clunky plot, occasionally unclear direction (thanks as always to SwankestCZ for the video walkthrough), and minimal puzzles. Give this one a try for something a little different but with the same Amnesia flavor you know and love!
Pretty cool mod, a bit too glitchy though.
I am a vegetable that likes to eat Sid's a$$.
Cool.
Says it created a shortcut on the desktop but there is no shortcut and cannot get it to reattempt even after a clean install. Also says it's the wrong game DLL API version after creating the shortcut manually. Will only boot with the d3_a version even through ROE does not exist on the PC.
Well, despite this being a very nice project as we frankly lack Military mods for BM (I also think there is an attempt to recreate the Opposing Force game for BM but it is not ready yet as I write this review); this mod felt quite poor optimized at some points. Let me better explain.
Although the battles against grunts, Vortigaunts, Headcrabs, and Zombies are OK in most chapters, and help to build up the sweet combat environment and gameplay positive tension of the classic HL1 & HL2 games, I experienced FPS stumbles right in the middle of most combat action. So yeah that's quite a turndown at points.
Also, the maps gave plenty of options to explore beyond the usual or logical pathways in them, but you find these hideous invisible walls, like in this part where Freeman falls to the water pit riding on the BM Transit System Cargo train, you even interchange some fire against him, and once he falls to the water below, your most typical reaction is to look down the pit he fell, but guess what? You can't because despite there being a big hole in the security door Freeman's Train opened, you just can not go through it because an invisible wall restricts the damn place!! So yeah those details are annoying and kind of big turn-downs about the gameplay experience, so please, if the devs keep working on this mod, get rid of those annoying invisible walls!!
Now, I have to say not everything is bad in BM-Military. No, there are many WOW moments indeed! Like these amazing battles against the 2 Gargantuas in the chapters and having the possibility to throw ATGM's to them and blow trucks was a cool detail! Also, almost before reaching the end of the last map, another WOW moment for me was to fight against the Xenian Grunts but look how the Xenian Grunts officers actually were taller and sturdier than the regular Xenian soldiers, that was cool, and I also felt they were harder to beat with regular shootings so explosives are so fun to use against them.
So, overall don't get me wrong. This mod had plenty of intense action and fun gun-shooting Half-Life Battles. But the keyword to improve the gameplay experience in this mod is "Optimization", yeah I guess with more beta testing and getting rid of many invisible walls the gameplay experience could be a 10 out of 10.
I thank and congratulate the developers for their amazing job, and I hope they improve their mod at some point in the future as it is pretty cool to battle against the one and only Freeman himself!
Plenty of breeki for your cheeki.
Good mod!
I played this multiplayer mod, when its fun its fun, when its not its all cavalry being overpowered, archers somehow dealing more damage than a crossbow, overpowered one hand weapons or better, weapon reach that doesn't make any sense. It is also unwelcome to new players so better beg for money to get some gear.
Good
